Drury means: English (Norman) and French: nickname from Old French druerie ‘love’, ‘friendship’, a derivative of dru ‘lover’, ‘friend’ (see Drew 3). In Middle English the word also had the concrete meanings ‘love affair’, ‘love token’, ‘sweetheart’.
